How many people have done it? You're congratulating yourself on doing a fine job, then placing the glued part down, you discover you've some how managed to leave a glue finger print!! Doe!
Is there anyway of removing this without sanding down? I was using Humbrol liquid poly.

The tried and proved way is to sand and use filler to repair the damage. The filler can range from traditional modeling filler putty, to whiteout and CA glue. but all require sanding.

I'm glad you said that Dave because I sanded it down earlier....lol. Used some 800 wet and dry and just very lightly sanded. It seems to have done the trick but a primer coat should show any faults.

Yep, depending on how deep the damage went, or ate into the plastic will depend on the amount of filler and sanding. Always remember to give the cement plenty of time to completely dry before sanding as even the slightest active cement will create more damage.
