hello all,
I got a air compressor but do not know what airbrush to get.
The compressor is a Baby-Air Compressor, the flow is L/min,max Pressure is 40 psi, made by Testors.
I need what airbrush,air lines,and anything i might need.
Please remember i have never used an airbrush,so what i need i guess is the beginners brush, that can do detail work.
thanks for any info.
cheers,
Bruce

Sounds like your compressor will be fine, I usually paint around 20psi. Just make sure it has a moisture trap and a good regulator, so you can crank it down for more detailed work.

I would suggest to check out the PAINTING forum here. This topic has been discussed many times and there is lots of input on the various threads. I wouldn't recommend going the cheap/beginners type of brush you'll just waste money and time. Get a good one right off the get go and you won't have to go buy another one in a couple of months.

You'll find there is nothing really hard about airbrush painting (generally), and I find it a lot easier than rattle cans. A little playing around with thinning ratios and pressures. If all fails, then simple clean off the paint with some oven cleaner and try again.

Good luck
-Bruce

You are not limited to use a Testors airbrush, simply a matter of finding adapters (if needed) to make connections between various thread sizes/styles. You should be able to find what you need at a good hardware store.

To start with, save yourself a lot of trouble and get an Iwata Revolution CR. It's simply the best all purpose airbrush on the market. You can learn on it and you'll still be using it 20 years from now.

I agree with Tom.....20 years might be a stretch but you get the point. The CR is versatile in that you can get fine or spread.

Honestly, I was pretty nervous about using an airbrush but found that the finish cant be beat. Its all about practice.

I have an Aztec 470 that I absolutely love....have read a lot of posts of others that can not stand this particular airbrush. I have only used acrylic paints in mine (also shot Future & Windex). Find it real easy to clean and use.

I second the advice about practice...the more I use mine the better I am becoming at getting the resuts I want.

Don't forget your moisture trap and pressure regulator...welcome to airbrushing. You will enjoy a whole new level of finish.
