Whitwashing the lower part of the hull didn't help muck as even in the cold, the lower parts would become dirty from soil and mud thrown up against them.

YES THE WHITEWAH TENDED TO WEAR OFF VERY QUICKLY SO USUALLY THEY DID`NT BOTHER DOING THE LOWER SIDE OF THE TANKS,ALTHOUGH IT WAS UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL TANK CREW TO DECIDE.

I think this vehicle appears as a colour plate in Bruce Culvers Panzer Colours. They show the turret numbers as yellow IIRC.
