About a year ago or so I remember an eletric tool for soldering/welding photoetch pieces reviewed or talked about here but for the life of me I can't find it through any search I've made. Anyone know what I'm refering to ?

I would guess you are thinking about this...
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/1896Good luck getting one if you decide to make a purchase. One of the members here posted in the forums several times and e-mailed the maker several more times over the span of a few months and had no luck getting the owner/creator's attention. I think the guy finally got one, but only after another person offered to sell him a used one.
Cheers,

Thanks Mike. You saved my sanity!
I thought it was made or connected to the Small Shop but it's not listed on their website as far as I could find. That would explain its disappearence. There was so much talk about it then nothing.......

Cheers Alasdair!

Nice tool, the Etch-Grip, if you can actually get your hands on one.
