MFCA – NEW LOCATION Friday, Saturday April 25 & 26, 2008

The new location is the Chase Center on the Wilmington Riverfront next to the Blue Rocks Minor League baseball stadium called the Frawley Stadium. It has plenty of free parking for those who are driving. The headquarters hotel is the “Doubletree DOWNTOWN” in downtown Wilmington at 700 King St (at 7 th) 302-655-0400.

USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
From Philadelphia Airport
To the Doubletree or the Chase Center from the Philadelphia airport is about thirty minutes south on route 95. The airport shuttle is Delaware Express tel 302 454 7800
web delexpress.com. Make a reservation ahead of time for lowest prices and pickup at any terminal. Taxis are expense because they have to cross state lines.

From Amtrak Railroad Station in Wilmington
Almost all north and south bound Amtrak Northeast Corridor trains stop at Wilmington from Washington, Boston and New York. In addition the SEPTA system runs relatively frequent but slow trains out of Philadelphia to Wilmington on the R2 line. The Amtrak station is walking distance to the Doubletree or the Chase center or a short taxi or bus ride away.

From the Doubletree hotel to the Chase Center. It is 1-1/2 miles away, you can walk or take the trolley.
To get from the Doubletree DOWNTOWN hotel (our headquarters hotel) to the Chase Center location take the Wilmington Trolley (route 32) from in front of the hotel on King street (a one way street) to the Frawley Stadium which is the end of the line. Cost is 25 cents. Frequency is about every twenty minutes during the day on Friday and every thirty minutes on Saturday. Get a schedule at the front desk.

Other hotels in Wilmington
Should you choose not to stay at the Doubletree there are a number of chain hotels in Wilmington nearby. A Marriott Courtyard at 11 th and West, A Sheraton Suites on Delaware Ave., A Clarion across from the Doubletree. For a a really grand hotel there is the Hotel du Pont at 11 th st. a four star hotel.

The streets of Wilmington are often deserted at night and can be dangerous. Check with your hotel and takes taxis at night rather than walking.

Other hotels outside Wilmington near the highways.
There are a number of cheaper chain hotels on route 13 (Dupont Highway) south of Wilmington. There are several chain hotels including a Hilton just off route 95 south of Wilmington in and near Newark Delaware. North of Wilmington on Concord Pike route 202 there are also many motels. Distance from these hotels along route 95 to the Chase Center can vary between fifteen minute and one half an hour depending on time of day.

Where to eat
There are a number of restaurants in the Riverfront Center next to the Chase Center. The Iron Hill Brewery and Timothy’s are very good and Harry’s Seafood Grill closer to the Amtrak station is excellent but reservations are advised. For a special French dining experience the Green Room at the Dupont Hotel is famous.

Shopping
The largest Mall is the Christiana Mall south of Wilmington on I95 and route 7 at exit 4A . It has four major stores and 130 shops. It is surrounded by chain restaurants and traffic can be bad. Delaware has no sales tax.

Suggestions for what to do on Sunday.
Just North and West of Wilmington lies the Brandwine Valley site the Brandywine Battlefield, Longwood Gardens, the Winterthur Museum and the Brandywine Museum home of many N.C. and Andrew Wyeth paintings.

Please note it is the DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN and not the doubletree wilmington.

Also, NOTE...The Hotel is 1-1/2 miles away from the Chase Center, you can walk or take the trolley.

I have been told that next year the hotel next to the center is scheduled for completion.
