I've seen the film and really enjoyed it. I'm no expert on Russian military so can't say if its accurate but looked the dogs you know what to me! Also the DVD has a load of extras about the real 9th Company that was left behind.

Absolutely awsome movie-one of my favorite movies of all time and sadly its not too well known outside of Russia. Its an out and out war film, but very powerful. The soundtrack and a lot of the scenery is simply breathtaking, its truely a cinematic masterpiece and rivals many hollywood war films. In terms of accuracy, i think they got the equipment spot on, only thing is the story of what happened on hill 3234 is altered a bit in the film.

Another one worth getting hold of is the Israeli movie Beaufort. I thought it was pretty good.
