hi all

brief question - ive read alot about using 'future floor wax' or other acrylic floor waxes to seal
the base coat of a model, before washing - where would you be able to get this stuff in the uk? anybody know of any suppliers, espacially in the south east would be utterly brill.

thanx all

In the UK, the product equivalent is calle "Kleer". I would think most supermarkets carry this household product. HTH!

I've just been in the UK and I took a chance to restore my stock. You can buy it at most supermarkets under the "Klear" name and it's manufactured by Johnson.

Guys, I've never used it, heard about it for years though. You just spray it on with what an airbrush or pump spray. Is it water based...clean up with water? How long do you let it sit before decaling? What do you spray over it to flatten it out? Will testor's "Dullcote" work?

While you can brush it on to a location for a decal, when you want to "seal" your model before washing, I suggest air-brushing it on if at all possible. Once you have done your decals and wash, then come back and spray with a flat enamel. I use the MODEL MASTERS #1960 Flat Clear finish to bring back that super dull coat and to "seal" everything once and for all... of course, you can also use a dilute of DullCoat if you have an airbrush... just don't go to heavy or too strong.. I've seen it cloud up before.

kfmagee - (i didnt know whether to call you sir or mr hehe)

do you thin it out with water or use it straight - im pretty much at the stage where i have to seal the model (panther) so i was wondering if its used straight from the bottle (case of)

thanx for the help

I use it just straight off the bottle, once done i clean the airbrush with a solution of 20% ammonia and 80% water. Final airbrush cleaning with hot watera and a couple of drops of dish soap...
