Does anyone know what, if any, is the difference between Tamiya kits made in the Philippines and ones made in Japan? I had an ebay bidder ask me where a kit I was selling was made a while back. Just wondering.

I don't think there is any real difference in quality of kits molded in Japan and the Phillipines. Same plastic, same molds produced to Tamiya quality standards. Japan is doing what the US did 35 years ago, reducing overhead by reducing labor costs.

Usually, first run kits are molded in Japan. Most of the older re-released kits are molded in the Phillipines. A kit collecter wants kits molded in Japan.
