Just wondering if anyone else has a number of started but unfinished projects laying about. I have at least 6-8 I have started and then for whatever reason they have been put on the shelf for "future" completion.

Probably about that many, not counting the ones I have given up on and thrown away.

I have only totally ditched one kit - Revells 1/72 B52

I do have six on the 'bench' right now. I really try to get them to a finished/displayable state pretty soon. There are 2 that are looong overdue.
The 'getit done' campaign really sparked me to finish some, so my number was higher at the end of last year.

Dozens of partly built kits. Of those only a few are really abandoned.

I got in the bad habit of building a kit right up to the point where adding the next part meant that it would not fit in a closed box while I was living in a small apt with wife and new child.

The kid is 8, we have a house, I have a designated and vented hobby room and I STILL have not gone back and finished those kits off..

I think I have maybe 2 or 3 "need to get at kits", a Tamiya Phibber (needs paint), the Italeri 2cm flak ammo trailer (has a coat of primer), and a Tamiya Humvee (interior completed except for detail painting/decals).

Trying to finish them off before starting anything else

This about half of what I have in progress. Way more than I should! My goal for 2008...get them all done!

I have 4 or 5 different projects started, that are not finished. They were never completed for different reasons, but usually loss of interest or other projects were prioritised higher. I still want to complete them though, but lack of time is my killer.
I have sold about 5 projects as well ... Incomlpete/in-progress ... and these were priced to sell. I knew I didn´t want to go back to them, as they were old builds and I would have spent too much time trying to get them up to standard.
Ive only ever started one project, that I was so disgusted with, that I threw it in the bin ... Airfix´s Gustav Vasa ship. Living in Stockholm, Ive seen the real thing several times and really wanted to do something different, but the kit was crappy and would have needed so much time, I took no chances.
But I dont belive its a "bad thing" toi leave a project on-hold. If you are not inspired to do it, or lose interest, the finished result will show. It´s better to wait until you feel the urge to work on it again, IMO.

Let me see:
Schwimmwagen, Stug III F/8, Puppchen, AA Halftrack, Patton Tank, Various figs, Kettenkrad, BMW motorcycle and I'm sure some others that I have completely forgotten about. I have a lot of work to do, but IO also just started a Marder II (the old Tamiya kit).
I need to win Lotto so I can stay at home and build all day, every day.

I guess I'm of the minority. I'm quite a slow builder and I put all of my "modelling energy" into one project right to completion. I figure it takes me 1 to 1 1/2 months for each model, if I started to throw more models into the mix I would never get anything finished. I do have 2 models that I have abandoned, bascially lack of reference material and hopefully with the every expanding Net I hope to get some more info some day and get those 2 cleaned up.
