Sir Edmund Hillary, one of New Zealand's and the World's great human beings died of natural causes on Friday morning, 11 January.

Not the least of his achievements was his work amongst the Nepalese people over the last 50 years, and his modesty as a person.

Sir Edmund Hillary was one of my father's all time heros (along with Buck Rodgers).
My father died attempting to climb Mount Everest in 1993, and I am happy he died chasing a dream instead of from cancer or something.
Mind you, Hillary was only 8 years older than my father, but I find it sort of ironic that that he outlived my father.
Hats off to the adventurers!
