Hi Guys
Just wondering if you help me on a few issues i have with casting resin
What a nightmare Air bubbles!!!!!!!!!!
I've been searching on the net about resin casting and trying to find the best way to cast resin without airbubbles...
I've heard that you can cast resin in a vacume chamber or use a centrifuge.
Can anyone give me some advice.. on constructing a cheap vacume chamber or making a centrifuge.
or
If there is another way you have found that works that would be great
Regards
Graham

Graham,
relatively cheap vacuum chambers can be found even at supermarkets (the ones used for food). Anyway the problem is, in my view, the pot life of the resin that won't allow you to do much even with a vacuum. What I usually do is to use a resin which pot life is ten minutes or so, fill the mould details with a brush, and then pour the resin in the mould very very slowly with a syringe (if you use a needle be sure that's at least 0.8/1mm in diameter and will help to reduce the amount of bubbles). Practice will help you refining the process.
