Bought this a week or so ago

At the moment it's in a logjam of other books I'm trying to finish before getting stuck in, but i looks like it's worth it.

Sounds like a good book. I picked up Heinz Guderian’s book, Panzer General. So far they are into Russia and he hasn’t been fired yet. Good book thus far. My other one is The Reagan Diaries, very good, if you’re a Reagan fan.

Got a good one the other day, "Thunder in the East" a new history of the Soviet-German part of WW2. It's very good as an introductory-level book or for those seeking a good, up-to-date overview. He's based it on current sources and is a good writer to boot. Only odd 'fact' I noted was, the author claims the Soviets were building two 59,000 ton battleships on the eve of the war - one each in Odessa and St Petersburg/Leningrad. I'd never heard of that - ring true to anyone? At that size - 59,000 tons - we're talking Iowa-size ships. I don't know jack about naval stuff but I was surprised by that one.
Also read "No Simple Victory" which purports to be an overview of the whole war in Europe. This one was real crap - badly written and not all that accurate.

If it qualifies to the thread topic: ATB books on the Battle of the Bulge and Panzers in Normandy.
Lately, am completing my library on Spielberger AFV reference material

Still haven't managed to get around to 'Band of brigands', got distracted by Peter Hart's 'Aces falling' instead. Good stuff but General Plumer's name is consistently mis-spelled and we also meet the ace (and footballer presumably) Alan Ball
On the plus side it has a lengthy extract from WE Johns' account of his shoot-down and capture.
