Hi,
Was not sure whether to mention this or not, but thought why not!!
Last night I went to a seminar/talk, organised by Waterstone's, by Prof. Richard Holmes. He was talking about his new book: "The World at War: The Landmark Oral History from the Previously Unpublished Archives"
First time going to anything like this, and it was really nice to see someone with such passion about his subject. Based on that, and from his previous books, I just know I am going to enjoy reading this book.
If anyone has read it already I would be interested to hear what you thought about it?
It is a shame that I now regret not becoming a military historian, nor do I have the time or ability to write a book - probably why I like to learn about it by modelling, but after last night he has added more fuel to the fire of wanting to learn more.
So, if you get a chance to see Richard Holmes then I highly recommend it.
cheers

Sounds like you had a very good time. I was lucky enough to attend a book signing, reading by Stephen Ambrose of his book The Wild Blue shortly before he died. Despite what some people think of him now it was interesting to hear somebody with a real passion for his craft talk about it.
