Bucking both the local and international trend Hobby City have opened a new shop in Albany, North Shore, Auckland.

The added exciting bonus for me is that its located just one building away from my work. It doesnt get much better than that.

While I reallyreally dig Ace Hobbies for their range of aftermarket bits, Hobby City has a better range of off-the-shelf kits.
I'm there this weekend!

Hi Everyone

Checked it out yesterday its a bright and spacious store as compared to their Auckland store. Good prices, friendly staff and pretty well stocked.

In my limited opinion its worthy of a visit and the support of modellers.

It dont get much better a model shop right next door to your work.

Do I work at Burger Fuel? I wish matey I so wish.

I'll second Sean on his opinion of the shop.

Good range of kits, though not as much as the Quay Street shop - I didn't ask, but I'd suggest that if you really want something, they'll check with the other branch and get it in for you; won't work for me, because I'm an inveterate browser and ditherer who likes to see what I'm buying first...

Good range of tools, paints and scenic accessories as well.

My 1 1/2 cents worth.
Had a look yesterday and spent some money. Good variance of stock but very limited for the AFV/figure enthusiast. Still, early days as they say. Maybe a bit of supply and demand. I ask and they get it.
Still, it beats anything from me ole stomping ground of Dunedin. At least I can buy tools, paints etc.
Or as my wife said, nice shop, friendly informative staff etc.
For me the jury is still out on this one cause they didn't have what I was looking for. Better stop as I feel a song is about to burst forth.

Hi Sean, been there and the staff were surprised when I told them that Humbrol and Tamiya paints were not compatible. Some modellers' websites had the same problem with these paints. Rick , North Shore

Tamiya and Humbrol enamels are compatable. They mix quite well. Likewise both manufactures acrylics. That is my experience anyway.

Thank you, Rod, I may have caused my own problem when putting Tamiya lacquer paint over Humbrol enamel. Tamiya website advises when changing colours remember "LEA". ie: Enamel on lacquer and acryllic on enamel. Rick
