Got a problem with the canopies for my Helldiver, and it's driving me round the bend. All the canopy parts were dipped in Klear (Future) then masked with Parafilm-M, the fixed sections were glued into position, the movable sections were masked inside aswell and attached to a piece of card for painting. The interior colour was sprayed first, then the camo colour. The fixed portions of the canopy are fine, but the 2 movable ones show faint traces of the interior colour in a sort of "bloom". I've a feeling that I stretched the Parafilm-M to much and made it porous. Not all panels are affected. I have damaged the Klear, on a couple of panels trying to remove it. I would rather not have to attempt to remove the clear on any more panels, because of the grave danger of removing the paint from frames. I would not be able to get the same degree of weathering and it would look odd.
So does anyone have any ideas for removeing this paint without damaging the painted frames?
This problem is preventing me from completing this model, which I am very pleased with otherwise

How did you try to remove the panels that you said you damaged the klear on?

I would perhaps try a cotton swab dampened (very lightly) with some kind of mineral spirit and try to rub the blooms off.

What about taking a tooth pick, cut it at an angle and try to lightly scrape off the paint. There may not actually be enough paint to do this though.

Just a couple of ideas. Hope this works out Mal.

:-) Thanks for replying Bryan. I've tried both the methods that you suggest. Cotten swab dampened with mineral spirit dosen't touch it. I have also tried the tooth pic cut at an angle, it appears that the paint is "embeded" in the Klear? Thats how I damaged the Klear, basically scratched it, so I will have to remove the Klear to remove the paint. I know from experience how messy that can be. I would normally use Isopropynol to remove it, but no matter how carful I am I will damage the paint on the frames. The easy way would be to remove everything and start again, but It would look to different to the rest of the model.
Really this post is in desperation, hoping for that magic solution, before I attack the canopy.
