From the mouths of babes...

A little girl was sitting in her classroom in England when her teacher walked in and started talking about how proud she is to be English and how wonderful it is to be an England (rugby) supporter. The teacher then asked everyone who supported England to put up their hand. Every hand in the class besides one went up. This surprised the teacher and so she asked the little girl why her hand wasn't up.

"Well," said the little girl, "because I dont support England."

Even more surprised, the teacher asked her who she supported. "I support the Springboks", she replied. Now a bit irritated, the teacher asked the little girl why she supported the Springboks. "My mom supports the Springboks, and my dad supports the Springboks, so I support the Springboks." The teacher looked at the little girl and with a smirk asked: "Well, if your mom was an idiot and your dad was an idiot, what would you be?"

The little girl looked up at her teacher, smiled and replied:

"An England supporter!"

:p

I know the English are a bit slow so lemme hit y'all with another joke before they get the first one...

BREAKING NEWS: ENGLAND RUGBY SCARE!

England rugby practice was delayed for two hours this afternoon after a player reported finding a white powdery substance on the practice ground.

Head coach Ashton immediately suspended practice while the police were called to investigate.

After a complete forensic search Scotland Yard determined that the white stuff which was unknown to the players was in fact the try line. Practice was continued as police were happy the players were unlikely to encounter the substance again...

With less than 24 hours to go, heres a reminder to the Boks of the correct way to address the English players, as demonstrated here by one of the Aussies.

Actually Nige... the real way way to greet an Englishman is like this... as demonstrated by JP Pietersen. Incidentally this is the same day English changed sponsors... to O-36

At least the pictures are clean...

After a last minute shift change I find myself driving tonight, so I'll follow the game on the wireless. I hope that the AM reception holds out, otherwise I will not be a happy bunny..

All this, and then tomorrow the Grand Prix...

England won, except for a minor hiccup -- the ref left his white cane at home. Again.

If you're referring to the disallowed try... the TV judge was spot on with his decision.

As a neutral observer, is it me, or is Rugby becoming a tad 'boring'?
Hardly any tries being scored, teams now seem to rely on drop gaols and penalties? For god sake, the one try of the game is disallowed because one part of the player touches a fraction of a milimetre of the line, after he has run across the lenght of the field (well, you know what I mean.. )

I think the sort of defensive play we saw on Saturday night isn't only limited to rugby. IMO most finals are dead boring as neither team want to go on the offensive at the expense of lowering their defense for a second.
Think about it... how many football (soccer) matches during the FIFA WC go into penalty shoot outs? Particularly once they hit the quarter final stages. IIRC that's how Italy won the last cup isn't it?

I dunno about that. I thought it was 50-50, and he should've given the benefit to the attacking side. For the record, I always thought that SA would take the cup, right along from the Tri-Nations. And England has nothing to be ashamed about, having come back from nothing to get into the finals. But I think they played the better rugby on the night. Just were a bit unlucky.

Im not really a rugby fan ... never had an interest, but "her indoors" is from Wales and insists on watching it. I think Im slowly getting there though. I tried not to watch it, but must admit the quarter finals really impressed me (except Scotland V Argentina) The other 3 were quite exciting, especially RSA V Fiji. Havent enjoyed a game of anything as much in a long time.
Of course the pressure offinal plays a part, and teams are getting too dependant on drop golas/penalties, but the gutter press in England have again singled out one player (johnny) and placed the future of the country on his shoulders. (Watched the F1 yesterday and much the same can be said again.)

Yep,,congratulations to the Boks.
It certainly turned out to be "their" night, although it looked for a while as though it could go either way. Try ( or not) issues aside, England certainly gifted SA with 6 points with the 2 penalties they needlessly gave away early on.
A lot more entertainling than football for sure.
As for the F1,,,,hmm,,,,,,certainly the last 2 races were a classic example by Hamilton/Maclaren of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory! Helluva rookie season though!
Strange thing is,,if this fuel temperature issue had worked the other way,,( ie Hamilton winning Ferrari denied),,im sure that the lawyers would be hammering on the door of the FIA and Ferrari would be claiming the extra places and points.
This is NOT sour grapes, as I side with no team in particular, just a neutral observation of how F1 seems to work these last few years.
Bet Alonso's peeved to find the Ferrari drives taken for next year,,,thats pee'ed on his firework,,LOL
