hi everyone,
at the moment I am in the process of building a large scratchbuild of the famous m2 halftrack, and when I say large I mean about 2 feet in lenght, I have browsed the net for information and some iamages to help with the build but there only seems to be very small shots of the vehicle and very few of the chassis and underbody. Can anyone out there post some images of the chassis or underside of the halftrack to aid in my getting the model as close as possible to the real thing. I have uplaoded some photos of the progress so far please remember that this is only a rough start of the model,
I hope some one can help,

bye for now tankone Barrie

I'll try to get you covered. We have one here on the base as a memorial to the Korean War. I will try to get over there sometime this weekend and get some shots. Anything specific you want other than the chasis? If you PM me your email I can shoot them directly.

Barrie,
I know this may be sacriligeous to a scratch builder, but have you considered aquiring a DML 1/35th M2 kit? You would be able to scale up the relevant kit parts & the kit breakdown would assist you in deciding how your model could go together.

An interesting project, however, not trying to pour cold water on it, but you AREN'T going to find what you need on the 'net. You'll certainly find some images (of preserved examples) and in the first link, you' should find some good walkround images:

Here are some items which, for a project on this scale, you are going to need:

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/2661

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/2521 - this is absolutely invaluable.

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/2168

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/2082 - this is the Technical manual on CD Rom.

The truth is, like everything else, the 'net can only take you so far. In addition you'll need to find a set of reliable plans which you can scale up to the required size.

As Steve said:

That would serve as another good starting point as well. However, bear in mind that good as this kit is, it DOES require some (minor) improvements. It's dimensionally correct but certainly needs some tweaking in a few areas. Good luck and if there's any more assistance you need, just ask..

Dear Steve,
great idea to purchase a kit but thats one of the reasons why I like to build from scratch, most people can go out and buy anything of the shelves but I like to try and build some thing bigger and not in the main stream and as I like to say I am a maker of models not a model maker

regards Barrie, by the way thanks for the fast response,

Sorry Barrie,
Been busy with work, I will try to get them to you tonight. It will be a few batches since Yahoo only allows 10mb per email.
