Hello all,
I'm looking for a decent model for a begginer. I have done two other models so far, the first was an AT gun from tamyia that, well is chaulked up to a learning experiance. The second was a M21 81mm mortar carrier that was also from tamiya, it turned out better but is obvious I have alot to learn. I would like something with a decent amout of detail, nothing that I'm going to use PE or resin with but detail.
If anybody has any ideas I would love to here them as I am going to the hobby store after work today

The Tamiya Pnzr II wouldn't be bad at all, or the US Stuart (3 or 5). All are smallish, easy to build, display well and are inexpensive.

Tamiya's M26 Pershing is a very good, but simple, kit. Their 105mm Sherman is good too.

You can't beat the classics - the Tamiya FLAK 36/37 88mm anti-aircraft gun #35017. Ahead of its time 35 years ago, outclassed by new editions from other makers but inexpensive, fun to build, still looks as good as ever when done and available with all sorts of options and detailing possibilities. Because this was one of the few weapons that was in use throughout the war you can use anywartime paint scheme on it that you desire from Panzer Gray to yellow to camo to whitewash. It is also a great basis for a first diorama as everything you need to create a scene is there. It has a full crew, limber, ammo crates, shells, etc.
This was one of the first kits I ever built and the subject of my first diorama. I blame it for getting me hooked.

If you are interested in projects outside WWII era Tamiya's T55A is an awesome kit. It isn't too difficult to build and it was used all over the world so it can be finished many ways.

I was drug to a yard sale this past weekend, but I'm kinda happy I was. I found a Tamiya Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. B for five bucks. So just out of curiosity, is this kit a good one or not so much? It does have the little PE and aluminum barrel so I assume it was a pretty good deal.
