Hi Guys,

Got this idea from a local hobby shop (Hornet Hobbies in Toronto). They have a display case of WWII models using barnboard as a backing in the case. Looks REALLY good, IMO. I like the way it looks so much that I'm going to do that on one of my display cases for any military or old, weathered subjects.

By barn board do you mean reclaimed wood from a barn? The old style of wood should make a nice rustic display.

Yup, that's it exactly. The old wood sets off the weathered pieces really nicely. I'll be doing this shortly with some wood that was on the top of my wife's potting bench, kept outside year-round (I'll be giving her a new top for it). Was going to go with actual barn board; apparently it's fairly expensive to buy but I'm sure if you were to talk to a farmer who's barn was in woeful disrepair he'd either just give you some or charge you a nominal price.
Also gonna look for some old rusted hardware to use as shelf supports.

I've lived in barn country and some of those boards can look fantastic.
So - why not a feature on how to enhance or make a full display case ???

Either way - the case'll look good.

Sorry not a Barn door but alas most of the Old Farms and Barns are now Banks ,Housing, gas stations,Churches.
