Interesting...follows the great tradition of the LRDG, not to mention the SAS. Squint and there are even overtones of the Italian AS 42 Sahariana!

How much protection does SAS LAndrover or SOV need? These are not fighting vehicles and if a patrol was to get into a serious two-way stoush, something would have gone wrong - better to rely on stealth and mobility than the penalties of armour...
