Dear Armorama Family,
Life seems to throw you curveballs at the most inopportune times. Two weeks after we arrived in Sicily, Melinda was told she is pregnant with our third child. Normally a good thing, but Conor (Little Chief) and Camden (Little Gunny) were both premature. Normally not a bad thing. However due to our location, the hospital has no facilities to take care of a premature baby. Normally they would Med-Evac her to Landshtuhl Germany like they did with Conor, but the hospital is only taking Combat Casualties from Iraq. No Military hospital in Washington State would take her, so sending the boys to Grammy's is out.
The only hospital that has accepted her for care is the outstanding new one at Portsmouth Virginia. The problem is due to the war, my command will not allow me to go, which I understand and am on board with. They are sending a Non-Medical attendant with her for 2 weeks and then she will be there all alone until she is ready to deliver. At that time I will be sent back to, hopefully be there for the delivery. She is having a tough time with leaving her boys here with a day care provider while I'm at work and she's so far away from them. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and also our brothers and sisters in uniform that are currently in harms way. Thanks!

Of course I'll do!!! Having two young kids I can imagine how both of you can feel.
Just an idea but you should be the one to approve it: I was really touched by the fact that you called us "Armorama family" and we are a kind of, even if we're spread around the world. Would you wife like to receive postcards from your "extended family" members during her stay at the hospital? If so please let us know and this will be done!
Best wishes
Fabio
If you let us now the date of thelivery I'll be glad to send her a bunch of flowers too!!!

Chief,
Know that both of your families, your immediate family and your military one, are in the hearts and prayers of this household.
May the Lord bless you and keep you safe from all harm.

Chief:
My heart goes out to you and your family as it does for all the families that are affected by the current situation in Iraq and abroad. I will most definitely add Melinda, and your family to my daily prayers as you go through this trying time. Just keep the faith, lean on eachother, and be ready to enjoy your new addition when the time comes. Please keep us posted. God Bless.

Chief,
Most of the corpsman in this (WA) area are deployed, so Grammy is correct. Let me know what's happening, I have a few contacts in the Norfolk area and I will do what I can to help. Good Luck and God bless.

I will remember you and your family in my prayers :-)
May God, the most merciful and the most generous, keep and protect you and your loved ones. May your child be born without any complications. May God make your burdins easier.
