Hi!
I've kept them so far on my shelf and although they are small boxes of 1/72 armor kits, I've just discovered how much space my empty boxes take.
I know I should throw them out, but I just can't. I don't know why. I have kept even those simple boxes of resin kits that have "minimal" or very simple box arts.
I wonder if it's just me or any of you have the same "problem"?

I used to cut the tops off boxes from completed kits, but I don't anymore due to space reasons. I always think twice when throwing out the boxes, but I've found that they just take up space I need for other things, like more kits in the stash!

Nope, can't even think of a reason why I would want to.
A lot of finished models I don't even keep, after the photos have been taken, (a reason I can't sometimes simply go back and retake photos
)
I have even been know to simply toss out projects I've totally lost interest in, and those that aren't turning out to my liking, or get tired of looking at. I also don't save old instructions.

Along the same lines as Grump....
I don't have room for the full ones
I build'em, shot'em (photos), they find a place on a crowded shelf and collect dust. Lord help them if a cat finds them - I don't repair them.
I do keep a binder of completed projects. Each project has a clear plastic pocket with the instructions, build notes, sometimes box art (if its really compelling) and photos.

Do I keep the boxes, sort of. These days I cut the very tops off and tape them to my modeling room wall, soon I have the whole room papered with all the art work from the many kits I've built.

I've kept most of the boxes of the kits I've finished (then again, I've only finished four kits...) I think I'll start tossing boxes out soon, especially since my stash is growing much faster than my list of completed models, and I don't have any storage space to spare.

Yes I do, well kind of, I've started reusing them for sending kits in through the post that I've sold on ebay, putting smaller kits into slightly larger boxes for protection.

I sold my empty model car boxes on ebay. I use some empty model boxes to keep parts in. I keep the some if I like the box art.

Daveinthehat;
Nice to see you here. I cut mine up to use the tops to scan for kit reviews. I still have some. Mostly I use the bottoms for project trays. I'll span the sides with the box top end panels ( because they are the right width.) Then glue them to the box bottom sides. That allows me to stack the same sized box bottoms (now trays) on top of each other. I use a sharpie to mark the tray ends as to the contents.

mine get tossed into the recycling bin. But I always have one on hand which I cut the top off of and tape down to the workbench. I use this to protect the wood underneath while I work.

I keep the tops as a sort of catalogue as to what I have build and what I may have in my parts boxes. Excetions are AFV Club track kits

I used to keep the empty boxes, but as the pile of empty boxes got bigger and bigger. I desided to throw them out. I do cut of the box art, if it's a looker.

I never keep them. Throwing the box away is a ritual that confirms to me that the kit is finished. A symbol that one build is done and I'm ready to open a new box and start another build

Thank you guys for all your comments!
I have to consider cutting the box art off, but I liked Sean's idea the most:
Of course I'm going to keep the spare parts and decals, maybe the instructions too, but no more empty boxes and sprues!

I have about six or seven boxes for spare parts, two for paint and glue storage, and five real big ones for the cats to sleep in. They love them.

When I've finished a build I always cut the box top off, write the date of completion on the back of it and paperclip the instructions to it. Helpful if a part ever gets loose or goes missing. What I should start doing is make notes on the paint used if I ever need to touch up after a repair.
In some cases I keep the box intact when it's rare or I really like the box art on the sides as well.
