I just opened up my old L7000 dodge tractor kit and realized I need a trailer, but after an ebay search and then all my known hobby stores I find a lack of tractor trailer kits or stores that have a good sellection...a google search came up with all ebay stuff...no web sites were found either. Anyone got any leads on good web stores for 1/25 scale trucks and trailer kits...old{really old} stock prefered. I'd like to find my old kenworth "movin on" kit and the K-123 cabover that I had long ago. Did trucks/semis die off?!

Bob,

Most of the current stuff is 1/24 scale from Italeri and Revell of Germany. The genre has seemed to die down a bit, but AMT seems to be re-releasing a lot of their stuff in the coming months.

I don't have the links handy right now, but I had found some specialty truck modeling sites that seemed to carry quite a bit of stuff. If I can track them down again, I'll post 'em for you.

Bob,

Here are some Websites that might be helpful. As far as truck modeling being dead, we'll let's just say that is't on life support!

I remember building that tractor back in high school (seems about a million years ago). I'm looking forward to picking up a couple when they do get reissued. That L700 is a nice little truck. If you want an L7000, swap in a Cat 3208 from the Ford LN8000 Short Hauler or an aftermarket Cummins. This site ( http://www.olddodges.com/ ) has some pretty good reference for the L700.

Good luck with your build. The guys at the Yahoo! Group are a wealth of information.

I forgot to add http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/ for references. There are a ton of pics, OEM brochures, etc on this site. It's quite amazing. Should help with your L700 and any other trucks you want to do. For a nice quick build, the Revell Snap Peterbilt 359 is a nice kit. It's a mid-1980s. I built mine as a 1986. Here is a link to some photos of my Peterbilt 359: http://www.danmodeltruckworld.com/index_files/Page752.htm

Howdy fellas,

I have always been intrigued by semi models, and must confess to wrangling one around the country in my youth hauling the U.S.Mail for a wee while.
But I must also confess to leaning towards the more esoteric versions of these beasties when it comes to modeling such as the whole 'Mad Max' thing, and the really cool Australian Road Trains......

such as.

and the Guinness world record setting......

....but then I've always been a bit 'weird'.....ask anybody

Seeing as lindburg is bringing these L700 kits again{keep cunfusing the ford L7000 with the dodge!} ,I started a left field build the other night for one of my old IMC kits...a 20' inner city dodge L700 flatbed truck with the rear side window option{those with the old IMC kit box in front of them can see the box side panels show the truck with the side window option, but the instructions don't show this..have drill and fresh #11 exacto blade and we have side windows}. I already built the flatbed and built the wooden floor section for inside it{balsa wood deck material}. The frame extention is done as well as the new drive shafts...might have to find a load to put on that puppy{where's my hogans heros jeep kit...?}. I need to figure out some removable side panels for around the whole bed frame and cut some pockets for them...plain deck for now. MM Caprail green for the cab{white is too plain}, medium brown for the inner door panels and seats{all 3} and everything else{frame/suspension} semi gloss black.
Anyone ever build a simple spare tire holder...one of those angled down 3 point holders? {I'll head you off on this one, my shirt is "my" spare tire holder...I need something for the truck-hahaha}

Model roundup has a fair amount of trucks. Some are limited private productions of old AMT kits.

Jesper, that's a good year!
I wish I could remeber where I saw that AMT/Ertle was supposed to rerelease 4-5 trailer and truck kits later this year....I wasn't tired so I was up till 2am googling truck stuff{then I was tired}. I swear I saw the resin conversion for a dodge squared body cabover, now I can't find it.
Here's a laugh, was looking for my half finished Italeri container trailer{never did find it yet} but I did find my resin B model mack cab kit...turns out it's an old AIT kit. I can tell it's old because it's marked "$25.00"{which knowing my cheap butt isn't what I paid for it at the local model flee market long ago}. I do like they're 900/1000 dodge kit...might have to pay "modern" price for that one!

OMG...SCORE!...was just peeking in the newest kit to enter the stash, "1/25 AMT US Mail truck and trailer #T-549"..just going to peek and not open anything...found out this kit has a trailer dolly to do a set of pups!!!{tandem trailers}. Without opening up the plastic baggy, it seems it has all the pieces to make the dolly...and to think I bid up to $90.00{and LOST} for the AMT CF Tandem trailer kit.
Now I need another kit for the other trailer.......{I gotta stay away from ebay}.

Got my 2nd AMT Mail truck and trailer kit off of ebay...now I can do a triple if I get another trailer.

Scaned my AMT decal sheet and transfered it to MS paint...been 4 days now and have gotten about 3/4 of it redone. Problem is all I have is standard "clear" decal sheets{3 of the big Sig decal sheets} and will need to get some "white" so the letters cone out in white{remember, printers don't do white!}...that or change the letter colors to a printable color.

I started my old "universal jeep" kit in the service station configuration{with plow} as a load for my L700 flat bed truck and am constantly thinking of a sign up in our breezeway for it's logo/decal..."Smileys rest stop...eat here and get gas"{might use paintshop pro for that one}. Would love to make up a set of "Mayflower" and old "Allied van lines" decals too.

FYI- I just preordered the Lindburg 69' Dodge L700 tilt cab w/flatbed trailer & 40' ford coupe @ model express for $32.98...due out later this month or so. $40.58 shipped. Worth it for just the trailer{why doesn't anyone do 1/25 flatbed trailers anymore?!} but you get the truck and a 40' ford as well. I'll use the new tiltcab truck just for the frame as I'm finally getting some headway on measuring up the dodge L1000 daycab cabover body........

Thought I'd mention it for anyone interested.......
