Hi,
I'm thinking about getting a punch & die set but i'm not sure which one to get:
the historex round set - good price, 9 diffrent sizes, but the smallest is .023"
waldron sub miniature - has one smaller size of .018" but muce more expensive and i think has six sizes.
I am an Armour builder in 1/35 scale and ocassinaly build 1/48 Air crafts
Any Recomandations?
TIA
Eran

I bougth two punch die sets, one round and the other one hexagonal. I use them and I'm actually quite happy... To get smaller rivets I use those tiny screw drivers with an exagonal tip, put a strip of plastic on a coster (un the cork side of it) and with an hammer I hit the screwdriver to get the rivets, or for the round ones same thing but putting a twist drill in a pin vise and I hit it. In this way I can do tons of rivets all of the same thickness and size and, the best af all, almost for free.

... The twist drill has to be put upside down, I mean with the flat round bit towards the plastic or metal sheet, not the end you use to drill
Sorry for that

Plastruct makes hex shaped rod, using it and a razor blade you can make loads of bolt heads. If you need more uniformity a simple jig lets you make many more of exactly the same size.

I like the sub-min set for my 1/35th armor and 1/72 a/c
