I am coming back to modelling, and my son is just getting into it. He is 7 years old, and really enjoys helping me out, and I really enjoy the time we're spending together.

I am really interested in dioramas, and wanting to get started in them.

If anyone here is a Marine Corps vet, the Camp Lejeune base library had a HUGE diorama of a beach landing, really sparked my interest years ago, and that is what I think of when I think diorama.

Lots of options if you want to do a beach landing diorama.
Depending on the scale or era you want to build, there are a number of choices you can make.
Italeri does a whole range of cheap(if not totally accurate) WWII amphibious vehicles in 1/35th scale.
Several versions of LVT's, two DUKW's and a M4A2/3 Sherman with wading gear.
Academy also make a Marine Corps M4A2 Sherman with wading trunks.
There are tons of update sets for these kits but they're a good starting point.
Tamiya, Academy and AFV Club have more modern LVTP/AAV kits available.
Welcome back to the fold.

Welcome back to the hobby and of course a big welcome to a really friendly site, where people share their work, experience and some humour.

The best way is to just join the gang and get involved.

Happy New Year.

Gday Boyblue

A very warm welcome from New Zealand.

Start them young I say my son who is a member here (mattyboy) is seven and has constructed two 1/72nd tanks of his own.

So both you and your son pull up a keyboard and spend sometime enjoying this site and its friendship as a member.

Regards
