Once again, YodaMan hails to the members on the Armorama boads. Some of you may remember me from way back when... It seems like ages since I first joined the site - and wow has it changed!

For me, modelbuilding as a hobby has been interrupted quite a few times due to real life events. Now that I've graduated college, moved away from home and gotten married, hopefully I can get back into this model thing for a good long time.

To get back into the swing of things, I've started work on AMT's 1/25 Gapmobi- er... that is Batmobile. This weekend I did some body work and got the chrome sprue de-chromed.

Even though much of the site has changed, it's good to see the people on the boards haven't. I look forward to some good modeling times ahead.

Yodaman!!! Long time no see.

Just in time for the 5 year bash, too!!! Welcome back!!

Are you still in WI or have you moved away? Yeah, lots has changed. Now you have to search for your topics, instead of finding them farther down on the "Latest posts" list. But as you can see Jim is still Jim- change is the constant!!

Good to have you back!

Great seeing you back YodaMan! Yes, the website...or should I say websites...have developed quite a bit while you were away. Jim and his staff are doing a smashing job all around.

quick question...what technique did you use to de-chrome the chrome of the Batmobile you are working on?

Brian, I'm no longer a resident of the Midwest. The East Coast is now my home; specifically, the beautiful state of North Carolina.

Yeah, I noticed ol' Jim was still around so I figured the site was as good as it's always been. It's nice to see so many others are still here after five years.

Marty, I used Easy Off oven cleaner to de-chrome the sprue that needed it. It's a tip I picked up from the Starship Modeler site a while back. Put the sprue in a sealable plastic bag, spray some Easy Off in there, seal it and let it sit for about 30 minutes or so. Then take the sprue out and scrub any remaining chrome off with an old tootbrush. I'll need to do a second application as there are some shiny bits still hanging on.

I've noticed that the black plastic seems to be bleaching ever so slightly in response to the oven cleaner, but the plastic isn't marred as far as I can tell. I advise using caution on some of the softer plastics.

ACK!

Jim has it dead on. Welcome back, Padawan. Or do you now consider yourself a Jedi Knight?

Doesn't matter -- glad you are back.

We're straight north of Raleigh/Durham, about 15 miles or so outside of the city rush. It's a-nice out here. And don't worry, this Yoda doesn't plan on having any younglings running around for quite some time.

Bob, still a padawan, I am. See, being newlywed I find that there's still tons of stuff to learn. But really, my wife is great!
