I've been modeling for about a year on and off, most of my stuff looks like crap but hopefully soon it will get better :-)

I mostly do 1/35 WWII armor and figures, but dabble in different scale planes. I'm currently trying to do a simple diorama with my panther, I hope it comes out as good as it looks in my head.

I've been reading this forum for awhile and finally decided to join the community. I must say, seeing the extremely good models on here is sort of encouraging and discouraging at the same time, heh.

I don't have my camera with me, but when I get it I'll post some pictures for you guys to tear apart.

Welcome Aboard Jim.
Looking forward to seeing your work.
Remember, we all started, and were beginners at one time. So don't let that stop you from having fun, and learning and improving.

I feel the same way but I think I probably joined for the same reasons as you. This is the best site I've seen. Very friendly and talented modelers from all over the world. Now if I can just get around to building something myself.....

Welcome aboard!

We all have to start off somewhere eh?

Just some basic pointers, don't over glue, check your alignments, fill your seams with putty, sand out smooth, never use super glue on or near clear parts like glass, even the fumes can fog it up and just relax. We're here if you need help, it can come in many forms. Some folks are straight forward, which, in some cases isn't bad, other folks sugar coat it, which in some cases isn't bad, either way you get it, there's something that can be learned. No one here is here to hurt anyone, you'll see, after a while you'll feel closer to some of us than you do with your own family .

Best wishes, and again, welcome!

Welcome to the site.

I too will give you just a bit of advise.

the number one thing that it took me a while to learn is the fact that the builder is his own worse critic.

It took me a while to figure this out but once I did I no longer got so discourged about my work..

I'm fairly new also and have been building only a little over 5 years. If you want to see how a site like this can really improve your building just check out my website..

My model site

compare say my M3A2 halftrack I built early own to one of my later builds such as the Duce and a half truck. I think the progression of skill shows itself then.. And I have mostly this site to thank for it.
