I love anime !
Talking about anime series, my preferate ones might be Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop (great modeling to be done with both...), and of course everything that's Macross !
So as to anime movies, the Miyazaki ones a great : Mononoke, Chihiro... also, if you like thrillers, you should absolutely watch Perfect Blue !

My favorite's Cowboy Bebop. There are a lot of good movies, unfortunately I can't really remember the names of any of them

What's wrong with good old animation movies like Disney, the Flintstones, ... ? These anime flicks bring violence where there shouldn't be any. (not that there was no violence in Tom & Jerry or the Roadrunner LOL ! ). My little son gets all excited about horrible things like Digimon and stuff like that. I wish the good old looney tunes were back !

Generalfailure !
If you take your son to the cinema to watch Chihiro's voyage, you'll see that every japanese anime is not about violence ! This one deals with magic, friendship and growing up ! The world depicted is full of poesy.
Other titles we've been talking about, like "Cowboy bebop" are not for children. The stories are sometimes a bit violent and they show some kind of humor / taste that belongs to the grown ups!

Three way tie between Ghost in the Shell, Akira, and Appleseed.

I like the paramiliraty vehicles in all three, the crab guns in Appleseed, and the helo's from Akira. The landmates in Appleseed are pretty cool too.

There's also the one I saw a couple of times with the giant yellow blimps releasing gas over Tokyo... forget the name, but the helos in there are pretty wild as well.

As far as t.v. anime it would be Speed Racer,Star Blazers abd Battle of the planets Moviewise it would be Vampire Hunter D and the Lupin series Or is it Lupan? The Lupin ones were a cross between the Marx Brothers and Hitchcock

That's about it.

My turn:

The Macross Saga (all-inclusive), Akira, Appleseed, Dirty Pair (all of them ), and BubbleGum Crisis.

The Blue Submarine was good too. Also Star Blazers and Battle of the Planets (come on - everyone remembers G-Force)

Star Blazers first and foremost. Both the television series and the movies are classics, and the shows lend themselves to some pretty cool models (I have both a 1/700 Andromeda and 1/400 Yamato). The UC Gundam stuff is excellent, as are the gundam kits. I was especially fond of Stardust Memory, as my kits of Gundam Units 2 and 3 would show. Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi, G-Force, and the Macross saga, a.k.a. Robotech, are all very good too. I've lost count of how many times I have watched both Vampire Hunter D movies (the first is better than the second) and Akira. If you are looking for more kid friendly anime, it's hard to beat "My Friend Totoro." I thought that movie would be suitable for anyone.
Just a few thoughts from a half Japanese (really) anime freak.
