My name is Grenville Lea-Smith and I have been modelling since the age of 8 - mainly swimwear and knitwear and still occaisionally adopt the pose of pointing off to the horizon with a cheesy look - however I was really rubbish at this, so instead I took the other sort of modelling. People say my models are fantastic and the best they have ever seen - these people know absolutley nothing about modelling and only have the stuff that falls out of breakfast cereal packets to compare to!
I earn a meagre living as a Freelance Graphic Designer working from home and mainly model Ancient - Medieval figures, 25mm,

54mm conveted figures
to 120mm and large scale busts through to 1930's - Modern 1/72 (heavily convertd/improved)

to 1/35 AFV's. I am currently working on a large scale Samurai Bust and 1/35 ICM T35.

Thanks everyone to all your posts - it's very encouraging that my work has interest for other modellers. I must say though that my work rate is Glacial, very very slow, but I don't apologise for this as a major part of the enjoyment of modelling for me is detailed research and cross referencing (and then cross referencing the cross referencing!!) for the subject I'm doing.
I also like using techniques that are not always main stream - for example using Griffin Alkyd paints for figures, these are a cross between Oil colours and Acrylics. These colours dry much faster than oils but have a much longer working time than acrylics, allowing you to use the painting techniques of oils but dry within/or less than a day. I hope to publish some 'how to' articles in the future using these paints.
I look forward to being a member of Armourama (note the English spelling!) and best of luck with all your model making
regards
Gren

Spartan -
Welcome to Armorama. If those pictures are of "breakfast cereal packets" offerings, then I need to switch to a new brand. The figures are look terrific and the T-62 shows a very high level of attention to details. I anxiously await more photos of your outstanding work. You'll be an asset to Armorama, and I'm sure will enjoy this experience.

From one designer to another welcome!
Armorama is the best site on the net, the folks around here are great and have tons of information, advice and friendship to give you'll be addicted in no time.
The build quality on this site gets better and better all the time - glad to see your cereal box offerings fit right in.
Cheers
