Yesterday I was in Best Buy looking for some movies and I happened to come across the box set of the hit show "Baa Baa Black Sheep". The box set that I saw said that it had 11 episodes in it. Does anyone know how many episodes this show had for future references? Do you know if they are going to put out the entire series on DVD? When I was younger this was my favorite show in this time period!!!

I have never seen this programme- though the film version was on TV here not long ago- but my gf (who is French) keeps going on about it as it used to be on TV when she was a girl. As it's her birthday soon, this might be a labour-saving purchase!!!

Well the movie was called Baa Baa Black Sheep the TV series was called Black Sheep Squadron. The series basically used almost all the same actors as the movie so it was an easy transition.

I think the show lasted a year The producer was Don Bellasario who has brought out such series as Magnum, Quantum Leap, Jag and NCIS. Though Baa Baa Black Sheep is fun...it is so Historically inaccurate as to rank with the Pearl Harbor, Midway, and Battle of the Bulge movies. To think Col Boyington was actually the technical advisor to the show.

Apparently in France it's called Les Tetes Brulees- the Hot Heads....
Not their greatest retitling of foreign series'- The Six Million Dollar Woman became' Super Jamie', and the Avengers The Melon HAt and Boots of Leather'.

What a great series. I remember the first few times i watched it, my dad made me sit down with him to view it..Of course im a little girl, and thats just not something girls watched..lol...Wasnt long before i was reminding my dad its time to watch the show..LOLOL..
Anyway, to answer your question Jody, the series debuted in 1976 and ran through 1978. There were a total of 37 sixty min. episodes. Not sure if all 37 plan to be released on DVD or not..but i would buy them..
I can remember when the nurses were first introduced to the show, i believe during the last season..they were referred to as "Pappy's Lambs" i believe. They made me want to be a nurse:)

You know....DVD's are one of the great blessings given to us lately. Look at all the wonderful old TV shows that we grew up with that are now available on DVD's. THe cost is't prohibitive, and now people who weren't even born when some of these shows were on TV can enjoy them too. We live in interesting times.

Monte,
Lol...now it's my turn to "not nitpick". All TV shows (until Babylon 5... I believe) were shown in 4:3 (also called 1.33:1) format for Television. There were other shows that shot using film so they *may* have been able to be shown in a wider format, but I think in most of these cases the film was simply transfered to video and eventually lost (the film).

Cheers,
Jim

No problem Jim. Call it what you will. All I know is that I can't stand watching movies and shows like I'm viewing it through a mail slot! There's a reason why I bought a big screen tv, for the BIG SCREEN! Not the 2/3 of black bars.

Im with you Monte..i hate the "letter box" or "widescreen" viewing options. I always make sure that i check my dvds before i buy them and buy the full screen version. It just irritates me for some reason if the whole screen isnt filled with a picture..

I do the same thing Mary, at least with the DVD's I'm going to buy. Fortunatly my DVD player has a feature that automaticly fits the picture to the screen but it dosen't always work for every DVD.
