Has anyone seen Kingdom Of Heaven yet?
Is it any good?
All the latest films out seem to be mostly flops.
E.g. Alexander, King Arthur, Troy etc.
And Orlando Bloom isn't really an action hero type is he!
This ones just about to come out in England. Just wondering if it's worth seeing.

Hi Jim,
That's a good point if Gladiator is anything to go by.
It must be opening over there and here at more or less the same. I think it's the 6th over here.
Stops people making pirate copies I suppose

or giving bad reports so others don't bother :-)
Sneaky eh!

Actually the early crusades were fairly successful. The European crusaders captured many cities and turned them into fortified positions that stood for some time. The later crusades though met with a lot more failure.
If you want to broaden your historical reference a bit try this:

Read reviews that it was totally inaccurate. So what' s else is new? Well, it is said that it depicts the early Templars as total baddies. As extremist.
Someone wrote that it is accurate as the film Troy can be. :-)

this is not surprising, I really dont pay to accuracy issues anymore, its a waste of time, most movies these days are pretty darn inaccurate if you ask me.

Yep, I agree with that.

Still, might be lucky this time eh.

As long as there is violence and gratuitous sex (at a minimum hot chicks) then it will be cool

i had been to the movies yeasterday. overall it is a nice movies. large scale battles/siege in the way it became popular with "lotr - return of the king" or "gladiator" (at my signal - unleash hell

). i'm not to familiar with the historical timeline of the crusades, but mix between political and military issues seems very reasonable.
there are also a few unrealistic situations in it, but that's hollywood. as example the story of a blacksmith becoming a knight, that earns from one day to the other the complete skill of warfare and leadership and is also very aware of engineering issues is a little bit unrealistic.
but it's still a nice movie and you will be entertained. i would rate it 8 out of 10.

I'm sure from a warfare standpoint it will be pleasing for most. I don't study the Crusades so I'ld be more interested in the accuracy of the costumes and combat. It is historical fiction, and a lot of "crtics" forget that. My best friend is one of those tear it apart guys so he doesn't go to movies much. Me as long as it isn't glaringly bad....I'm probably the only guy here who liked "Pearl Harbor". But then again I only watch about 30 minutes of the movie wanna guess what part?

Well the Crusades are a charged topic these days what with the very real clash between Moslems, Christians, Jews, and whoever else you want to throw in.
All I heard about the movie is that it is pretty PC for a movie dealing with Christians fighting a holy war (jihad) against Moslems.
And since there has been little outcry from this or that religious group, or protests in the street it must be fairly tame when it comes to the telling of history.
Yes Scott is great, but I seem to remember a film called G.I. Jane...

...well, I went and saw it Friday night. It was "o.k." my biggest problem with the movie was Orlando Bloom's character - he is a blacksmith who just happens to know how to wield a sword enough to get a "not bad" from his father - a knight for some odd decades & then after about 1 minute's worth of tutoring - he goes from "not bad" to being able to defend himself like an unbeatable pro time & time again...?

It was an average summer blockbuster. Nothing to write home to mom about....
I had trouble identifying with the characters and it did seem to be really promoting the harmony between religions and what is the "right" thing to do.
Now the soundtrack is a different story. It is fantastic. A great mix of cultures....

I had to choose between Kindom of Heaven and the Pacifier yesterday. It was a nice contrast because Vin Diesel, the action hero had to babysit and Orlando Bloom plays an action hero (he isn't IMHO) I think it was more appropiate to see V. Diesel in Kindom o Heaven and vice versa) :-)
Still need to see Kingdom of Heaven....but I'm no fan of Orlando Bloom

Whenever I watch a movie of the historical genre, I've learned not to take everything at face value. I'm acutely aware film makers make room for "artistic license" which tends to take away some authenticity from the story for the sake of entertainment.

HI Stuke,
I'm planning to see it next week.
I'll pay attention to the sound track.
I've bought a few soundtracks in the past, sometimes the best part of the film.

This movie is yet to be shown here in the Philippines, so I can't comment on it since I haven't seen it.
But I do have one comment though. Personally, I can't associate Orlando Bloom with anything than Legolas. He just "doesn't feel right" when it comes to other movies.
I mean, he isn't exactly a bad actor but...well...I dunno. I just "can't feel it" when he acted in Black Hawk Down, Pirates of the Carribean and Troy.
Anyway, I'm still going to see this movie.

I just saw the movie.. and in my humble opinion it was very good. I wouldn't say excellent, as it seems to have a lot of "predictablity", but good. It is worth the tickets. I too was wondering how Orlando Bloom would be in this film, but i feel he handled the role well.
