Good evening everyone, my name is Brian. I'm 28,married (no kids yet), and live 65 miles north of Houston,TX.....in a small country town called New Waverly.

I grew up building plastic model cars and trucks.......and in the middle 90's I entered several shows in the Houston area....and won first place in every show I entered.....including the '95 Houston Lowrider model car show, and the "lowrider" class at the '95 Houston Autorama model show. I also was featured in Lowrider Bicycle magazine for my model cars.

I got married in '97.....and my model building slowed up...and eventually halted. I began trading for a few 1/35 military model kits a few years ago.....and eventually tried my hand at armor modeling a year or so ago.....building my first tank.

Recently I began to clean up my toy/hobby room......and rediscovered my military model kit stash.....which sparked my interest once again.....

I primarily enjoy Vietnam era and modern US subjects......but I'm also wanting to get into WW2 as well.......figures,armor, and dioramas.

So here I am.......once again modeling.......and enjoying the hobby.

I look forward to learning new techniques.....and doing some trading for kits and items that I may need.

THANKS for the welcome Frank........ I'm definately NOT a pro by any means......so armor and figure painting wise I do have a ways to go. I'm just enjoying working on my first dio......just a simple dio really....but fun nonetheless.

It's kinda tough finding time to build right now....as I'm in the middle of doing some major car repairs....and work schedule.....but I'll find time when I can :-)

Hey Brian welcome a board to Armorama:-H As for learning some techniques this is the place. We have modelers like Mr. Roo, Grumpy, Animal and Major Goose (just to name a few) who have all the techniques. Your questions will never go unanswered.

You have any pics of your cars and trucks..like to see them.

Ciao GungHo,
Welcome to the big "A." I was born and raised in Ben Wheeler, Texas (east of Dallas) but now live in Florida. You will grow to like it here and your skills will improve for sure. There are a lot of talented (and nice) guys on this site.

Welcome to Armorama Brian. I have been through New Waverly a couple of times. I used to live in Bastrop Tx (Austin).Glad to see that you are getting back into the hobby. There is a growing interest in the Nam era. Which I am glad of. I hope to see some of your projects soon in your gallery here. Enjoy!

THANKS again for the warm welcome guys...... I can really see that this place will end up being my #1 hotspot for modeling......

Animal, as you mentioned Vietnam era modeling is a growing era......alot faster than some might think.

I'm also a 1/6th military figure kitbasher (DML,BI, and other higher end brands)....and I have the same era interests in that hobby as well. Interest in Vietnam era items in the 1/6 hobby has been exploding......and there's just not enough of the quality items on the market (or parts resellers) to meet the current demand. DML's 1/6 Vietnam era figures kinda bombed when they came out 2-3 years ago....but now certain figures and items (like OD fatigues,M1 camo cover helmets, flak jackets,OD boonies,M16A1's and etc) just literally fly out of the parts resellers inventory.

Thanks again for the welcome...... I'm really enjoying checking out all of the incredible work and tips.

Greetings Brian -

As you're already finding out, this is without a doubt the best place to be for sharing modeling experiences and getting the best in support and help. Spent some time down San Antonio way several years back. Looking forward to hearing more from you,

Hi Brian,

Nice to see another Texan enter the ranks, and not too far from Houston either. If you make it to Houston, make sure to visit Hobby Island, one of the best hobby shops for scale models. Dave is a very friendly guy and offers excellent service. He also hosts our monthly armor club meeting. if you would like more info. on his location, just send me a PM.

Hey guys, I had my mom scan the magazine feature that was done on me in '95.......the pictures are somewhat grainy......but scanned nonetheless.

I tried to upload them to my gallery......but my PC still has a glitch somewhere....because when I go to resize the pics it says it's not a recognized Jpeg. I had this problem a couple months ago.....and looks like I still do......so I'm unable to post the pics.

Would it be posible to forward the scans in an email to someone and have that person post the scan pics here in this thread???
