New to the site and wanted to say HELLO! Live in a small city in central Texas, USA without alot of modeling outlets (Hobby Lobby is THE hobby store here). Unfortunately, we just can't seem to support a dedicated hobby shop. Anyway, work and family don't allow alot of time so right now I am more a model collector than builder--I sure can imagine the greatest dioramas though! Look forward to chatting about a great hobby...

Hey Rhino11

A big Armorama Howdy to you too! Welcome to the site. Family sure does eat up modeling time, but that just allows us to think about it more to create a better build. At least that is what I tell myself. I hear great things about hobby lobby on this site so it can't be all bad.

Cheers

Welcome to the big "A" as we like to call it. Very glad to have you here with us.
I think we all understand the "little time to model, because..." statement. No worry, we'll be here for any and hopefully all your modeling questions or what have you.

See you in the forums.

Welcome to the site. Don't be intimidated by the stuff you see here-we all started somewhere. Just ask questions and you'll get all the freindly help you need. BTW, consider yourself fortunate. Where I live, I don't have a Hobby Lobby, or a Hobby Anything for that matter, and I can't even find a decent hobby shop in my part of the state! Anyway, we look forward to seeing your work.

Howdy from a fellow Texan. If you are anywhere close to Austin, there are two great independent hobby shops there. And there is a decent shop in Killeen.

Up here in Dallas, except for Hobby Maker in the mid-cities area, we are pretty much limited to Hobbytown USA and Hobby Lobby. I'll have to follow Epi's advice and make the drive someday.

Welcome from another Texan. We are lucky here in Houston to have an excellent hobby shop: Hobby Island. Central Texas is a pretty big place, how far from Houston are you?

And there's a problem with people fom the great state of Texas Jim?

Welcome Rhino, I know exactly what you're talking about. Nothing but Hobby Lobby here in Midland. Trips to Dallas or Amarillo take on a whole new meaning.........HOBBY SHOPS!!!!!!

Welcome Rhino11,
Ain't Texas great I am in San Antonio, there are a few good shops here, also a small AMPS chapter and an IPMS chapter. Regularly travel to Austin, King's Hobby is there, great store. Even travel to Houston to Hobby Island another great store. I know that family comes first and modelling time is limited (I have a 10 month old and a 3year old) but you still can squeeze some time in. Let me know if I can help you out.
Best Regards,
Robert Beebe

Welcome!

I've been there a couple of weeks ago. Actually my first time in the US too. Stayed at Wyndham Anatole hotel in Dallas. Nice one really. The Hobby Lobby I visited there wasn't that impressive. I did go to Hobby Maker up at Bedford twice.
