@ 0800 repeats @ 1400 Bradley vs. Model
Shortly before dawn on December 16, 1944, U.S. troops controlling the Ardennes sector of France were pulverized by massive German artillery bombardment. At 5:30 a.m., a German force of 275,000 men and over 2,000 Panzers rolled forward. The German counteroffensive, the Battle of the Bulge, had begun. It was Hitler's last great gamble in the West, which would bring two commanders into direct confrontation: U.S. General Omar Bradley and Hitler's Field Marshal Walter Model. TV PG

@ 0900 repeats @ 1500 MacArthur vs. Yamashita
Between October 1944 and August '45, General Douglas MacArthur and his men recaptured the Philippines from the Japanese, led by General Tomoyuki Yamashita, in the largest single U.S. campaign in the Pacific War. As the Americans pushed forward, Yamashita had one weapon the U.S. did not--kamikaze pilots, who sacrificed their lives for maximum destruction of the enemy. The fighting continued until the Japanese sued for peace--MacArthur lost 8,000 men, but Yamashita lost a staggering 192,000! TV G

@ 1000 repeats @ 1600 Eisenhower vs. Rundstedt
D-Day, June 6, 1944. In arguably the most pivotal battle of WWII, Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower faced German Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt on the beaches of Normandy. After years of planning, Allied forces combined to fight for the freedom of France. Though von Rundstedt fought back with his Atlantic Wall fortifications, only Panzer tanks could stop the assault. But Hitler had assumed sole command of the Panzers, and when they were needed, he was asleep and couldn't be awakened. TV G

@ 1100 repeats @ 1700 Zhukov vs. Bock
By summer 1941, the German army was considered nearly invincible, having swept all before it and not lost a battle. In the opening weeks of Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of Russia, the same pattern emerged. Yet within six months, the Germans learned that they were fighting a formidable enemy and Germany's fate was to be radically altered at Moscow. Its defense would be masterminded by Marshal Georgei Zhukov; the attempt to enter Moscow fell to Field Marshal Fedor von Bock. TV G

@ 1200 repeats @ 1800 Patton vs. Kluge
On July 25, 1944, in northwest France, 1,500 bombers of the American 8th Air Force, supported by a massive artillery strike, began concentrated carpet bombing on German defenses. The barrage signaled the start of Operation Cobra--the Allied attempt to break out from Normandy. General George S. Patton and his 3rd Army led the breakout and would be involved in a dramatic face-off against German Field Marshal Guenther Hans von Kluge. If he succeeded, the Allies could advance towards Germany. TV G

@ 1300 repeats @ 1900 Bunkers
From the earliest bunkers of WWI through the ultra-futuristic ones of tomorrow's wars, we trace the story of defensive fortifications. In the constant struggle to hold off ever more potent forms of attack, bunkers function in a variety of forms. Three mammoth block structures comprise a submarine bunker at Lorient, France, able to house 20 subs. We visit Churchill's Cabinet War Room and Hitler's Berlin bunker, as well as backyard Cold War bunkers and those that protect nuclear weapons themselves. TV G

@ 2100 repeats @ 0100 Silent Service
Attack Plans of WWII

Examines the evolution of the strategy and tactics used by U.S. submarines in the war against Japan. Conceived as scouts for the surface fleet, the fleet of boats of the "silent service" found their true calling as heirs to the commerce-raiders of the American Revolution and Civil War. By embracing the once-condemned practice of "unrestricted submarine warfare", these stealthy predators of the deep virtually swept the Pacific of Japanese maritime shipping. TV G

Cool! Glad to see that there is some good stuff in the TV, but over here is CA, there is not all that much.

Just tuned in to see the begining of Patton vs. Kluge and a few color shots of the M-3.

Will have to catch the repeat later as there are no free tapes. Sheez, hate being un-prepared.
