I would like to see Team Yankee and Savage Wilderness by Harold Coyle. Both would be excellent.

Personally I'd love to see Debt of Honor as a movie, though I doubt it ever would be made. The final of it is too close to 9/11 for most people.

I'm thrilled that they made Master and Commander, and made it so well. I doubt Russel Crowe is going to want to make too many of this series but I'd like to see them make at least one more. I can't think of too many other books I'd like to get seen made into movies, but there is one movie I'd really like to see get made. I would love to see a very well made movie on the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Especially the action of Taffee Three where a half dozen US escort carriers, destroyers, and destroyer escorts, went up against several Japanese battleships, heavy cruisers, and destroyers. The charge the American destroyers made was so gallant they deserve a movie in their honor. If they want a book to base it on they could use The Battle of Leyte Gulf by Thomas J Cutler as an excellent resource.

Give me lots of money and I'll direct and produce "Red Storm Rising". Probably make it into a mini-series. And yes, there's that waterfall-shower scene of Vigdis Agustoddir in it. #:-) With Russia still needing money, there's thousands of T-80s, T-64s, and other T-XX MBTs waiting to be used in a film like this! The equipment is still there. CGI be damned hehehehe! We'll use AUTHENTIC SOVIET EQUIPMENT! Hehehehe! Will also make it faithful to the book not like what they did to "Sum of All Fears" which was crap IMO.

Another book I'd like to see in film is Larry Bond's "Red Phoenix", which is essentially a Korean War version of Clancy's "Red Storm Rising" (which IIRC Larry Bond co-authored as well). IMO, Red Phoenix was more intense than RSR.

With the exception of The Hunt for Red October (which was excellent adaptation), I've really been disappointed with the films made from Clancy novels. I thought they strayed too far from the books in both Patriot Games or Clear and Present Danger and with The Sum of All Fears it's like they didn't even read the novel (Jack Ryan single?).

I'm about the biggest James Earl Jones fan there is but, historically, he was the wrong actor to play Ryan's mentor. Willem Dafoe was too young to play John Clark. They've never gotten Cathy Ryan right, either. She's a petite blonde, but in all the movies she's been played by redheads.

I'd love to see a film version of Team Yankee, but with the end of the Cold War, it'll never happen. Coyle's The Ten Thousand (conflict with modern Germany), Bright Star (conflict with Libya), or Trial By Fire (conflict with Mexico) might be good. Even Against All Enemies might make a decent movie (US Army puts down Idaho rebellion).

cheers to all . IMHO Coyle is a greater writer when land battle is concerned. Bond is also good especially in Couldron. That would be a great thriller. Of all the Jack Ryan series i really like the HFRO. For me everything seems to fit the characters. Mancuso is played well and of course Sean Connery is Sean Connery. I like the movie more than the book. October is an exception. But the rest, im really dissapointed particularly The Patriot Games. Too bad, Harrison Ford is tailor made for Jack Ryan. Code of Honor by Coyle would be a great compliment to Clancys Clear. Outdated but a good one is The Cardinal of Kremlin. I hope they will make a movie also about John Clark (Kelly) from the book Without Remorse. Hell that would be brutal.

Biggest dissapointment for me is Ludlum's Bourne Identity! It really is a crapper. Gemini Contender would be great.

I just wish they will produce a great war movie as big as Private Ryan.

I'm not a big fan of his books, but I'd like to see one based on Dale Brown's novels just for laughs. :-)

I'd rather see medieval battles turned to movies, as opposed recent conflicts - you see the real thing on CNN anyway. So, with that in mind, how about one based on the Bayeux Tapestry, the Conquest of England by William of Normandy? Centerpiece scenes will be the Battle at Stamford Bridge and the Battle of Hastings.

Oh yes, another movie based on the Crusades - one of them, at least. Make that the First Crusade. Hmmm... I seem to recall a mini-series was made for that (and it included a very very very pretty actress as the leading lady hehehehe)

Harrison Ford is tailor made for Jack Ryan.

I forgot to mention that yesterday: When he got the role, Ford was far too old to play Ryan and still remain faithful to the books. Patriot Games takes place before The Hunt for Red October when Ryan was in his early 30s, yet Ford was around 50 at the time.

I liked Alec Baldwin as Ryan because he's closer to the right age and he matches the physical description bettter.

You and me both. Without Remorse is far and away my favorite Clancy novel and would make an outstanding film.
