I am a beginner/starting again builder after a long time away from armour kits. Can you name what is the best 1/35 or LARGER KIT for a not so skilled modeller to take the next step up with. I feel I need a challenge.

I suppose that might depend on what kind of kits you like to build. Armor, aircraft, ships, etc?

Welcome to KitMaker!

Cheers,

Tamiya and Academy kits offer the best instructions and ease of build generally, are in a good price range and offer a lot of variety. You can pick up a good M4 Sherman, Panzer IV, StuG III or Tiger I. They often include extra stowage items and figures. Many of these kits have been reviewed online, especially here.

Probably a Tamiya kit, most are well engineered trouble free builds.Recent releases have been more pricey,so it up to your pocketbook hey have a vast selection of kits out also.I have also been pleased with Trumpeter.

I was looking at jumping in the deep end and getting Trumpeter's Pzkw iv, but I dontalways read favourable reviews for Trumpeter. You say you like them? I am looking for a challenge

I never did that one,it's probably hit or miss with diffrent kits and diffrent companies.Currently I'm working on a Trumpy BTR-80.If it's a challenge you want, try a Dragon Panzer IV on for size.

I would recommend one of Trumpeter's BMP-3's. They are not too complex, build up well but do include some finer parts.

Take a look at the new T28 and T35 releases from HobbyBoss. these two kits offer an introduction to photo etch and in the case of the T35 is a very large armour model.
