Ola People

I loved the godfather trilogy and also Goodfellas was good but I saw a movie a couple of weeks ago and I can`t remember the name anymore but it was also a maffia movie about how Bugsy siegel and Meyer Lansky started their gang by putting the two biggest Maffia families against each other. Brilliant movie with not so much known artists If I recall Correctly

Ganster movies, along with horror movies, are a genre that doesn't really do anything for me. Would The Sting count as a gangster movie? It's got a gang of con men and they go after a ganster. The first time I ever saw it I had just seen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid a little while before for the first time. They were advertising The Sting like, "this time they just might get away with it." I nearly walked out of the picture at the end when Newman and Redford got shot. Fortunately I stuck around for the credits. I really liked the movie overall.

No questions asked, hands down, The Godfather followed by its sequel. Every other one is an also ran. GF has it all, cinematography, sweeping saga, theme music, great actors at theak of their careers in absolutely defineing roles. Quotes that can't be forgotten:
"Just make him an offer he can't refuse."
"Look what they did to him, they massacred my boy."
"Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes."
"This one time, Kay, I'm going to let you ask about my business."
"Fredo, you're my older brother and I love you, but don't ever take sides against the family again. Ever."
"Michael, the one who comes to you with the offer is the traitor."

The Godfather and its sequel are superb.

"Leave the gun. Bring the canoli."

I'm in the small minority who actually likes Casino better than Goodfellas, though the latter is still an excellent film.

Lotsa good films mentioned by others.

I completely forgot about Reservoir Dogs. It's one of my favorite films.

It's definitely "gangstery", but not "Mafia-gangstery".

I'd also put Pulp Fiction in as a good "gangster"-type film.

I also can't believe I forgot one of my favorite classic gangster films: White Heat with James Cagney.
