Does anyone know how they made the scene where Kelly's squad is waiting for orders and they are sitting by the road watching the vehicles parading by them? Where did they get all of the vehicles?

I I remember right it was filmed in Yugoslavia and they uses the Yugoslavian army vehicles. I read in a biography that Clint Eastwood wasn't too happy with the final editing of the film and the scenes that were cut. He though it made the film seem like a bunch of screw ups doing a bank heist, which I thought was what the film was about?

I had read somewhere that Clint Eastwood thought it was supposed to be an anti-war movie and that it's message got lost or changed along the way. I did not realize that the Yugoslovia Army would have had so much US type military equipment of that era on hand to use and would be willing to use. Must have been some major dollars trading hands to get that kind of cooperation. Thanks for the reply.

Quoted Text

Surprisingly for a film of this theme, the film production did an incredible job of recreating WWII scenery with numerous authentic vehicles and weapons; jeeps, Sherman tanks, even T-34 tanks modified to look like German Tiger tanks (these were acquired from a Russian source that used them for one of their films, and are very likely the same ones used in "Saving Private Ryan")

from a website on the movie...thought this was interesting...gonna have to go rent this one again...
