hello all.just seen black hawk down ,and i can't help but wonder why there were no armoured vision ports for the windows and a turret for the 50.cal the men definitely had courage but sometimes courage just isnt enough. is it a military axiom that we all forget the lessons learned in the last war.

whahahahaha LOL

On a serious note;
I think (I know) they didn't expect to get into so much trouble (did ya read the book? as I'm now doing for about the 4th time) #:-) Would they have known about the mess getting from the sammies I bet they would have thrown in an armored brigade and not just the humvees and the flatbeds...

From what i understand also, Washington didn't think an Armored Detyachment would be needed.

maybe i should have clarrified that a little. i've seen the movie before but i just finished watching the dvd again because i bought it.now we've all seen pictures of mutts with armoured windsheilds and m113s with a turret for the 50.cal a humvee is a pretty sizeable vehicle i would imagine it can accomadate all given the advances in weaponry.

Defense Secretary Les Aspin made this decision.

Let's not forget arrogance either guys. Hate to say it, but we badly underestimated the opposition. They werea bunch of lihtly armed insurrgents. Problem was there were thousands of them and they ewre all armed AND DETERMINED. Just watch "Zulu" and "Zulu Dawn" to see what happened to Brits as Ishwandalla (SP?). Same thing. Glad you cleared up that youhadseen the movie before, that was kind of shocking
