Hello, I just got back into modeling and found this site a great help. I am a teacher in Gainesville, GA USA and am using military models to help my special education students to learn how to follow instructions, work with details and work as a team. Any suggestions on projects that you all would think they would like let me know. Also, personally I am interested in doing a WWI trench diorama but I don't know how to find any kits or figures to use. If anyone has an idea please let me know. Also, my father served in the USN during and after the Korean War and was wanting to do a model of each aircraft carrier he served on- does anyone have any idea where to find aircract carrier models, I looked on line but havent had any luck.
Thank You

Welcome to THE best web site for military modeling.
What age range are the kids you teach? That would help with suggestions on projects.
As far as WWI stuff - I have not seen many kits at all. If my memory serves me correctly the AFV's I've seen are usually 1/72 scale. For figures you are most likely going to have to go to specialty kits like Verlinden and get them in resin. Check out ebay, that is a pretty decent source. Also try google for on line resources. Just type in WWI models or something like that.
Take a look at some of the other threads - There is a campaign (don't shy away because you're new - join up) on trenches and someone else is building a WWI diorama of a Model T at a Y in the road - looks good.

Reproman,
Welcome.
Emhar makes at least 2 British tanks from WW1 in 1/35th scale.
Check the link. Someone else makes some other ones but I can't think of who right now (Mondays...)

Welcome aboard RepoMan. I don't know the age groups you are teaching, but if you go to Revell's web site you will find they offer a program targeting kids called "Make It Take It" . Boy Scouts and groups like this can order a mix of kits at a really low price . Of course they aren't the top of the line kits , but work out great for what you are seeking. You may even be able to contact Revell directly and get them to sponser you since you are a teacher. May be worth a try. As for the "Flat tops" , go to Greatmodels.com. They have a great search area, just type in the ships you are looking for . By the way, I'am just up the road from you (Knoxville, Tn. ) Enjoy the site,, Mav

Hey repoman...welcome aboard. There are tons of aircraft carrer kits out there, unfortuneatly not all are same scale. You can get the WW2 Us carriers in 1700 and the present day in 720 (close). The btween carriers come in a variety some in 720 and some only in 400. Cheap the on line hobby places for you modeling needs, you can also post on the ship section of this site and there is a Navy site at modelwarships.com. Enjoy the site
