Greetings.
Stumbled across this site and WOW, just what I was looking for.
"Thank you" to all involved with this site.

I'm a model builder and hopeless aviation nut. I've been building 1/48th scale plastic model aircraft for "many" years- trying to get better with every project.

Currently "on the bench" is a 1/48th scale Republic P-47D-25 Thunderbolt BU#42-26635 MX*E. She flew with the 82nd Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group. I'm a glutton for punishment as I'm using the old Monogram kit!

I'm looking (pronounced "begging") for decals for this project. I can handle hand-painting the cowling "checkerboard" but I need the White modex codes and Yellow tail numbers. If there's a complete MX*E decal sheet available, that would be wicked-cool. If not, can anyone suggest which decal sheets would lend themselves to this project?

Another item- when I found this site, it was still a "thread" on the web. A gentleman was asking about MX*E as he was going to build this same aircraft. The reply post said MX*E had a NMF belly??? I assumed this aircraft was painted using the only paint available at the time- RAF colors. A former pilot (Hewit) of this very aircraft "seems to remember" RAF Dark Green over RAF Azure. The publication Squadron Signal #67 Pg.36 says MX*E was Medium Green over Sky.
The NMF belly is new to me and like all of us here, I'm interested in the facts.

It's nice to be here and I'm interested in your thoughts.
Thank you for any help...

Many blue skies, Boompy

Welcome.

This is a great place to gather and converse about all the things that make this hobby so great.

I would like to encourage you to check out the campaigns and enjoy a build. We will help you whenever we can. The people here are really a great bunch. There are a lot of people here who really know their stuff.

So I finished the "Jug" at last. Only on the bench for over a year!

Now I'm working on the old Williams Brother's 1/32nd scale 1932 Springfield Bulldog.
What a neat little racer. Plus, I've decided to back-date the kit.
I'm building my Bulldog with one of the early fin and rudder designs AND the experimental flush exhaust system. I even included the dents on the left wheel spat- the result of a hard emergency landing/tire explosion on the "first flight". I know, I need professional help.

More to follow, Wiggy
