Hi!
My name is Jake or Skiff. I am new to the modeling of ships or any model of the sort.I am in high school and wanted something to do on my free time. I would like to get into WWII stuff and a few modern things as well. I would really like to build the Trumpeter 1/144? LCAC. That is my favorite type of water craft. I have been reading articles on this website for a few weeks now and I think that I have figured out the basic materials needed for the hobby, So far I have different sized paint brushes, sanding stick, white glue, CA glue, tooth picks, Q-tips, micro paint brush, tweezers, side cutters, and I have a few other things that I just bought.
If you have any tips for some one new, please feel free to share them!

Dave has said it the best . Have fun and enjoy the hobby .
Any questions all you have to do is ask !

Hi Jake, and welcome. You've found a spot with a lot of wonderful and helpful people, so just ask around and you will drown in wisdom and suggestions.
My humble suggestion (which I guessed Terri would have come up with) is the modern type of nail files. Nowadays it's not just a wooden stick with sand on. The modern ones have a hard plastic back plate, a soft center and a fine grit sanding surface. They are wonderful for sanding bent surfaces without leaving flat patches. I wear one down for every 1:48 a/c i build, but they are rather cheap, so it's worth it.
