I've been away from modeling for nearly 8 years, then last year I stumbled across the Great Models website. I am amazed at the progress that armor modeling has made. When I stopped, many were predicting the end of plastic modeling (kids wanted to play video games and the like, so they're wasn't going to be any interest. Apparently the hobby was going the way of the dodo bird - WRONG!).

I'm married and have a nine year old son (he is showing some interest in armor modeling). I'm an eighth grade history teacher and reading specialist for San Bernardino City USD, in CA. I studied Soviet and Russian History in grad school, and I've been to Russia twice (I lived in Moscow for six weeks in 1994). I've been building models since I was ten years old (started with cars and migrated to armor). I am beginning work on some projects for a friend who has a traveling Patton museum.

I've already learned a lot from the posts here.

Welcome David
You sound as though you would have an interest in Russian tanks yeah?
I do hope you are right pertaining to the future of the hobby; I have a lot of plans for the next 70 years.
Cheers

Welcome to our wonderful site.

Feel free to ask questions whenever you feel the need. These sites are full of experts that will make a lot of effort to ensure your questions are answered correctly.

I highly reccomend checking out the ongoing campaigns. Participation in the campaigns has really helped my meager skills by forcing me to try things I would not have done otherwise.

Reading the forums will alow you to find many new techniques and procedures that will amaze your friends. Also, the kit reviews will probably help you when choosing kits. I almost always check for reviews before ploping down my hard earned retirement $$$s.

Again, Welcome. And happy modeling.
